As we journey through Ethiopia, we’re blessed with numerous beautiful Christian sites. For example, located an hour or so South of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is an archeological site called Melka Konture. It is an archeological site which is a huge accumulation of all types of animal and human bones in one small area. The local tribes claim (oral tradition as they have no written language) that the bones were the remains of Noah’s flood. The site is an excellent one for Creationists even though the scientific community does not provide this documentation at the site. Very near Melka Konture is the 13th Century rock hewn underground church – Adadi Mariam. They can both be seen on a 4 to 6 hour visit from Addis and can also be included on longer stopovers for connecting international flights.
In September 2005 a 60 kilometer split in the earth in the Afar region of Ethiopia further documented the significance of the area geographically. The split happened overnight, not over millions of years as would normally be reported. The location of the Rift Valley that begins in Ethiopia and its stretch up through Israel is also an interesting mystery that is also supported by oral tribal traditions.
