Aksum museum curator discusses Ark of Covenant stone discovery

On September 29 2010, Aksum (Axum) museum curator Tewdros Abreham discussed the recent discovery of a stone that was unearthed under Dungur Palace (Queen of Sheba Palace). The altar or stone most likely was the first used for the Ark of the Covenant’s arrival in Ethiopia when Menelik and the Levite priests sons brought the Ark and its Tablets (Tabbots) to Ethiopia from Jerusalem. In following Ethiopia’s Kebra Negast and oral tradition, Menelik had been to Jerusalem to meet with his father, King Solomon. The curator discusses that the German archeologist who made the discovery will be announcing his findings in the very near future.

The curator also discusses the other Christian sites where the Ark of the Covenant was kept. It had been moved from Aksum from time to time to keep it safe from invaders. Living Passages sent Dr. Yohannes Zeleke to interview the curator.
