Join Pastor Cary and Warren Community Fellowship on a cruise and tour in 2021 following the footsteps of the Apostle Paul throughout the Mediterranean.

This Footsteps of Paul cruise in 2021 visits the most important Biblical Mediterranean destinations! Join Pastor Cary Wacker as we study our way through the teachings of Christ utilizing geography, archaeology, and prophecy. This small private tour visits the Biblically significant areas of the Apostles Paul, John, Timothy and Peter. However, you can add an optional extension to Rome to visit the important sites of the Apostle Paul and the Early Church. Pastor Cary has thought of everything you will need for a full and memorable journey!

You will have ample time at the beginning, traveling at a leisurely pace. All meals in Greece and Turkey are included, as well as all transportation, Biblical tours, and hotels in central locations. This journey has just the right amount of fellowship and sights. Additionally, the tour of Greece and Turkey is geared at a leisurely pace where you will have ample time to explore on your own.

If you have more time, you can do the optional Rome extension. In Rome, you will see the most important Biblical sites and stay in a very central location in order to see other beautiful monuments of the Eternal City.

The core tour begins at only $4,689 per person. Paying a little bit more will get you an outside cabin or balcony cabin. The cruise ship we will be on is called the Celestyal Olympia. The 3-day optional tour of Rome is $1,294 per person and includes the additional air flight to Rome.

  • Depart Portland (or your home airport).
  • Depart Portland on your overnight flight to Athens – meals are served on-board the flights. [B/L/D]

  • April 20
  • Athens! One of the ancient cities! Stroll Attica – ancient Plaka for dinner.
  • Arrival in Athens, transfer to our hotel, located in the historic center.  Once we have checked in, we will walk together in Attica via the quaint streets of Plaka.  We will stop and have a lovely, outdoor dinner under twinkling lights and the commanding Acropolis. [D]

  • Acropolis, Areopagus – known from Paul as Mars Hill, the agora with lunch.
  • We meet our guide this morning and the first stop is the famous Athens Acropolis. We will have a teaching at the little rock hill called the Areopagus (Mars Hill). This is where Paul made his famous Mars Hill sermon. Visit the Agora, Hadrian’s Arch, stop at the first Olympic Stadium and see Constitution Square. Overnight in Athens with dinner. [B/L/D]

  • April 22
  • Ancient Corinth, its synagogue, Bema Seat, Corinth Canal, lunch, free afternoon, group dinner.
  • Today we will drive to the ancient City of Corinth. Here we will see the site of this important Early Church and see the synagogue where Paul spoke and at the Bema where he stood. Stop at the Corinth Canal, enjoy a Greek, farm lunch and then return to Athens for a free afternoon. Dinner included, once again. [B/L/D]

  • April 23
  • Board cruise ship and sail the Aegean Sea the next few days. Mykonos this afternoon.
  • Sleep-in this morning and then board your cruise ship for lunch. After familiarizing yourself with our new home, we have a fun stop! We arrive in Mykonos, Greece. This island, famous for its windmills, beaches and famous seaside restaurants, can be explored all evening. Come back aboard for a late dinner and then we sail away. [B/L/D]

  • April 24
  • Ephesus in Turkey (Seven Churches of revelation). Afternoon and evening on Patmos.
  • This morning, we arrive at the most important of the “Seven Churches of Revelation”, the site of Ephesus, where we will have a Bible-focused tour. Return to the ship for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the precious island of Patmos. We have a tour today of the island where we will visit the cave where the Apostle John received the Book of Revelation. You have time to enjoy the water front, have an ice cream or do a little shopping. Dinner and sail on. [B/L/D]

  • April 25
  • Crete, Archaeological Museum, walking tour. Afternoon and evening on Santorini.
  • We arrive at the Greek island of Crete, another important stop on Paul’s journey. We will visit the important Archaeological Museum and learn of the significance of this large island, then rejoin the ship for lunch. This afternoon, our ship arrives at Santorini. Though not Biblical, the visit to this island is always a highlight! It is considered by many one of the most beautiful places on earth! Free time to sit and enjoy amazing views, ride bicycles, take a 4-Wheel adventure, swim, or just wander around its quaint shops. Enjoy your last night aboard ship as we sail away after dark. [B/L/D]

  • April 26
  • Disembark ship, fly home or on to Rome!
  • Disembark ship and transfer directly to the airport for your flight to Rome to join the optional Rome extension below) or fly back to Portland, arriving the same day. [B]

  • Ancient catacombs of the Early Church and Paul’s “Outside the Walls” where the Apostle Paul is buried. Pizza tonight.
  • We depart Athens this morning on our flight to Rome. Upon arrival, you will be met and taken into the city, where there will be free time for lunch. You will then join your guide for a tour of the Catacombs of the Early Church. This is where the Early Christians hid and lived during the times of persecution. We will also visit the church called “Paul’s Outside the Walls,” which is where the Apostle Paul is buried. Enjoy the neighborhood of your Roman city and then join us for pizza tonight at a festive restaurant. (BD)

  • April 27
  • Coliseum, Arch of Titus, the Forum and Palentine Hill, Mamertine Museum (where Paul and Peter were incarcerated). St Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel.
  • This morning, we visit the Coliseum, which is built by the revenue from the gold of the Temple at Jerusalem when it was destroyed. We then visit the important Arch of Titus which documents this, then onto the Forum and Palentine Hill. In the same area, we will visit the underground precious prison now called the Mamertine Museum. This is the prison where Paul was kept during his important Roman writings and where Peter was also held. You will have some free time for lunch and then we will visit St Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. Your evening is free to explore. (B)

  • April 28
  • Free day for shopping and wandering past the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Rome’s monuments. Dinner.
  • Free day and evening in Rome. Everything is so close: Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navonna, the Pantheon. You will love every corner of the Eternal City! Join us for a farewell dinner. (BD)

Cary Wacker

Pastor, Warren Community Fellowship

A native of Southern California, Cary accepted Christ at the age of 18 at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa under Pastor Chuck Smith. With a great hunger to know God’s Word and serve Him, Cary entered ministry to disciple and train people according to the Word of God. 

Cary is the Lead Pastor at Warren Community Fellowship in Warren, Oregon where he has served for 18 years as either the Youth/Executive Pastor, and for the last four years as the Lead Pastor.  He served as Youth/Associate Pastor for 3 years at Rancho Baptist Church in Temecula, California and served as Youth/Associate Pastor for 10 years at Morningstar Christian Chapel in Whittier, California. His combined 31 years of ministry experience has given him a great depth of knowledge and experience concerning the Word of God.  He has a Master of Divinity Degree and a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Studies from Multnomah Biblical Seminary and studied in the Doctorate of Ministry cohort in preaching at Western Seminary in Portland Oregon. Cary has led 6 groups to Israel and Jordan and many trips in overseas missions. 

Cary also serves the community as a Senior Volunteer Firefighter/EMT/Chaplain for Columbia River Fire and Rescue and as a Chaplain for Columbia County Sheriff.  Cary and his wife Wendy have been married for 33 years have four grown children and 4 grandchildren. His hobbies are hunting, fishing and just about anything outdoors.
