Over the past 20 years, nearly one million people have witnessed the Story of God live on stage at The Thorn. Now, for the first time ever, you can experience the Passion of Jesus in-person and on-location in the places where it actually happened! This September, join John and Sarah Bolin, the Producers of The Thorn, on an unforgettable trip to the Holy Land and Mediterranean. The Bible will come alive like never before as you visit the top sights of Israel — from the streets of Bethlehem to the shores of Galilee to the Garden of Gethsemane and of course, the empty tomb! If you’ve ever been to Israel, you’ve never been like this. Throughout the trip, select Thorn characters will make the sights come alive in an unforgettable way. Imagine Thomas in the Upper Room, Peter on the Sea of Galilee or John the Beloved at the Garden Tomb.

You’ll not only visit Jerusalem, Galilee, Bethlehem, and Nazareth in Israel, but you’ll board a cruise ship and sail for the island of Crete, as well as visiting Athens and Corinth. On the luxury Mediterranean cruise, you’ll witness the jewels of the Apostle Paul’s journeys as he evangelized and built the Early Church. During our time at sea, you’ll enjoy special immersive, dramatic experiences as well as teaching and worship opportunities specially created by the Thorn team for this tour.

Our hotels in Israel are smaller, boutique hotels geared specifically for an ambiance toward teaching and sharing. Our ship is the luxury liner Constellation owned by Celebrity Cruise line. For accommodations aboard the ship, you can select to upgrade your cabin to either an outside cabin or a balcony cabin. Check our registration and act quickly, as prime rooms usually book first and we have very limited availability. Would you join Thorn Producers Sarah and John Bolin for this spectacular time of fellowship and learning?

Price of the tour starts at $3,999 per person. Air add-ons from Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Dallas, and Houston start at only $1,299 per person.

  • Caesarea Maratima, Mount Carmel, Megiddo/Armageddon, Nazareth
  • After breakfast, we board our bus and drive 15 minutes to Caesarea Maritima. This site was built by King Herod and there is much to see here.  You will see the original palace swimming pool that sits in the surf of the Mediterranean, the Amphitheatre, the circus where the gladiator games were held and the prison holding-area where the Apostle Paul most likely stayed prior to being sent to Rome on his final journey.  We will have time to walk in the surf along the stunning Roman aqueduct.  We continue on to Mount Carmel where Elijah called-down the fire of The Lord and where he had the confrontation with Baal’s prophets in 1 Kings.  Next, we visit Megiddo, which is known for the Solomonic Gates and the many Biblical battles and wars that took place at this crossroad of the Via Maris.  Seeing all of this, you will gain an understanding of the end-time battle that will take place below it—in the fields of Armageddon.  After lunch, we drive to the Nazareth Overlook known as the Mount of Precipice.  This site is known as the place where the people of Nazareth wanted to throw Jesus from the cliff overlooking of the city. Our drive skirts the Jordan River as we arrive in Jerusalem.  As we enter the city to see the walled city, we will stop at Mount Scopus, see the city’s gates and the Temple Mount.  We check into our hotel where we will reside for the next 3 nights.  (BD)

  • Breakfast, Dinner

  • Sept. 23
  • Jerusalem!  Temple Mount, City of David, Hezekiah’s Tunnel, Southern Steps
  • This morning, we will be on Temple Mount, where we will walk the breadth of the mount from Al Aqsa Mosque to the Golden Gate and the Dome of the Rock.   As we exit, we arrive at the precious Pools of Bethesda.  It is here that John 5:1-2 took place: “After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.  Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.” We will share a worship song in the adjacent chapel and then break for lunch in the Old City, where there will be time for some shopping. This afternoon, we enter into the new archeological jewel of Jerusalem—The City of David. You will be able to see the newest archeological excavations that are “taking the world by storm”!  Once in the City of David, you will be able to walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel and exit to the recently-discovered Pool of Siloam.  John 9:7: “And He said to him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam’. So he went and washed, and came back seeing.” Afterwards, we visit the  Southern Steps, which existed at the time that Jesus would have walked up into the Temple.  Once at the steps, we will have an amazing time at Archeological Park that has both Robinson’s Arch and the area where the Trumpeting Stone was found.   (BD)

  • Breakfast, Dinner

  • Sept. 24
  • Old City, Shrine of the Book and Dead Sea Scrolls, Bethlehem, Herodium, Jewish Quarter
  • We will start our morning at the impressive Shrine of the Book and Israel Museum.  There is a fantastic, Old City replica that allows us a great understanding of the city at the time of Christ.  Later, we drive to the town of Bethlehem, where will have a delicious, Bedouin, barbeque lunch under a tent.  Afterwards, we drive up a Tell to a place called Herodium, which is a mountain fortress which was the tomb of King Herod.  However, the reason for our drive is, most importantly, to have an overlooking view into the Shepherd’s Fields that are still used today.  Passing Bethany on our drive, we return to Jerusalem. We will be in the Old City this afternoon, and, specifically, the Jewish Quarter.  We will stand in the square with the large golden Menorah that will be used in the next temple; we will visit the Broad Wall, the Roman Cardo and walk through the Arab Quarter and exit Jaffa Gate.  At sunset, we will share communion at the Garden Tomb.  (BLD).

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Landscape overview of the Mount of Olives
  • Sept. 25
  • Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Jericho, Beit Shean, Sea of Galilee
  • This will be an amazing morning as we arrive at the Mount of Olives!  We will have a special time on the mountain that faces the city. This is the same view that Jesus saw as he traveled from Bethany.  We walk down Palm Sunday Road and enter into the Garden of Gethsemane.  After a time of reflection, we join our bus and drive towards the Sea of Galilee. On our way, we will drive through the city of Jericho, see the desert and mountain called the Mount of Temptation, see Mount Gilboa and then drive on, passing Beit Shean. From here, we will see the wall where King Saul was hanged. When we arrive the Galilee, we will visit the synagogue location of Capernaum from which Jesus taught. Afterwards, we will enjoy a sunset boat cruise on the Sea of Galilee with worship and praise.   (BD)

  • Sept. 26
  • Mount of Beatitudes, Chorazin, Beth Saida, Sea of Galilee cruise, board our luxury ship
  • This morning, we start our day by visiting the Mount of Beatitudes, see the black, volcanic synagogue of Jesus’ time, Chorazin and visit Beth Saida.  We end our Galilee visit in a field of grass near the Sea of Galilee where we will worship together.  We drive to the port and board the luxury cruise ship, “Constellation”.  We dine together tonight aboard ship.  (BD)

  • Breakfast, Dinner

  • Sept. 27
  • Day at sea for fellowship and relaxing!
  • We spend today at sea, where you can rest and unwind! We will have some time together this morning and afternoon if you want some special teaching time to prepare for the portion of our journey together that deals with the Apostle Paul. You can enjoy the pools, the facilities and appreciate magnificent views of the Mediterranean. We will dine together tonight.

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Sept. 28
  • The Isle of Crete in Greece, walking tour of the waterfront and island
  • Today, we visit the old city of Chania, Crete and its walls.  This darling, Greek island has a quaint, walled city and waterfront. Our ship arrives this morning and we have a walking tour together to the fortress. Once there, we will have an opportunity to be entertained by The Thorn.  At the end of our visit, you may choose to stay in town for shopping and lunch or choose to return to the ship.  We are in port until dinner time and will have dinner together again this evening.   (BLD)

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Sept. 29
  • Athens, Parthenon, Acropolis, Hadrian’s Arch, Corinth Canal, Ancient Corinth, the Bema and synagogue, overnight Athens
  • Today, we arrive in Athens.  Once we disembark the ship, we enter the city of Athens with its commanding Acropolis.  Once at the Parthenon, we begin with the teaching of the Apostle Paul at Mars Hill.  We plan to walk up to the Acropolis and learn of Paul’s God-given insight in his sermon about the tomb of the “unknown god”.  We will have time to drive through the city and see the original Olympic stadium and Constitution Square with their changing-of-the-guard.  We will come to the engineering wonder, the Corinth Canal.  After a sumptuous lunch at a Greek farm, we visit the site of Ancient Corinth.   Once here, you will stand amongst the columns of the synagogue where Paul taught and be able to stand next to the Bema where Paul gave his compelling sermon from 2 Corinthians 5:10.  Afterwards, we will drive along the Mediterranean and stop at a rocky beach that is very near where the Apostle Paul would have laid down and cut his hair as he took the Nazarite Vow.  We will have lots to talk about during our dinner together this evening!

Designed to be an interactive, relevant retelling of the meta-narrative of the Bible, The Thorn was originally performed to a small audience of high school students.

Over the next 15 years, The Thorn continued to grow, with casts of hundreds playing to crowds of 20,000 plus. Each year more than 40 professional and volunteer cast and crew join The Thorn to take the show on the road.
