You will have an option of going into Rome 3 days early and focusing on the Early Church sites, plus the incredible monuments and fountains of the Eternal City. Wow!!! What a trip! This trip begins in Rome and ends in Istanbul and is a 13-day itinerary with 11 days of the itinerary on the ship and 2-days in Istanbul. This June trip will also be teen and child friendly for those families who want to join us. It is a great itinerary for grandparents bringing grandchildren! |June 2||Arrive Rome – The Eternal City! Arrival meet and transfer to our ship, the Azamara Quest. Sail away party on deck! Dinner is planned together for this evening in the main dining room.|
|June 3||Sorrento. You have time today to visit the famous Island of Capri, romantic Sorrento or the ruins of Pompeii.|
|June 4||We arrive at Syracuse, Sicily. Paul’s amazing journey to Rome involved the visit at Syracuse. “And landing at Syracuse, we tarry there three days” (Acts 28:12). We have a half day tour with plenty of time to enjoy shopping for Italian delicacies and enjoying the lovely beaches. Tonight we will have a fun movie under the stars especially for us, poolside. Enjoy the Jacuzzi and a hot drink and cuddle up for an evening to remember.|
|June 5||At sea all day to enjoy teachings, the spa and praise and worship together. Our teachings will be spread sporadically over the day to allow fellowship poolside and in the intimate library.|
|June 6||The entire day is spent on the Greek island of Crete today. It is here where Titus, who was a disciple of Paul, preached. While you are on the island today, you can also take a tour of the Knossos, a Minoan Palace. The island of Crete if very easy to get around and is a popular beach destination as well. Our teachings on the Seven Churches of Revelation will begin this evening after dinner.|
|June 7||Free day on the most beautiful island in the world, Santorini. You can take the funicular, take a donkey or walk up to the most amazing viewpoint! A few of the fun items to do on the island include renting a 4-wheeler and enjoying the views, or a taxi ride to the black and pink sand beaches on the island. We don’t depart until 10:00PM, so you have plenty of time to see the entire island.|
|June 8||We arrive on the island of Patmos today. We have a special tour that takes us to the cave where John received the Book of Revelation. We have a teaching outdoors under the olive trees overlooking the beautiful port. Then, we get to enter into the monastery and see some of the oldest Biblical manuscripts. You will have time today to enjoy a coffee or ice cream at one of the quaint outdoor cafes, with plenty of time to return to the ship for dinner, and possibly come back to the island for a walk around the waterfront.|
|June 9||We arrive at the port of Kusadasi this morning. Before departing the ship, we have a teaching on the importance of this site. The day includes a full tour of Ephesus, one of the sites of and perhaps the best preserved of the Seven Churches of Revelation. Our tour will be a highlight of our trip. Afterwards, we return to the port city to enjoy some lively Turkish shopping. The beaches of Kusadasi are welcoming, too. Continue on to Laodicea today and overnight.|
|June 10||Our visits today include Sardis, Smyrna and the church site of Pergamum. As another one of the churches of Revelation we will see the Acropolis and the site where Jesus said Satan’s seat is.We will enjoy a lively teaching in the impressive theatre that has commanding views of what once was a harbor. Afterwards, enjoy some fun shopping and visits. We finish our Seven Churches of Revelation studies this evening as we prepare for our arrival into ancient Constantinople. Tonight we sail past the site of world famous Gallipoli and down the Dardanelles Straits.|
|June 11||Our ship comes into the port at Istanbul on the Bosphorus. We have a full day tour today visiting the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and the Chora. Our tour includes a lovely lunch at the Cistern where we will learn of its amazing history. The tour finally visits the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest bazaars in the world and truly world class. You can spend as much time as you want. When you are ready, you will be transferred back to the ship for the night. This evening we dine together in the ship’s premier steak house for a private bon voyage dinner aboard ship.|
|June 12||Return transfers to the airport today and our flights home.|
|Rome Extension (May 30 – June 2, 2014)|
|May 30||Depart the US.|
|May 31||Arrive in Rome early today. We will drive past the Appian Way to walk the Appian Way under the ancient aqueduct surrounded by broken statues and busts of ancient Roman citizens. Then, visit the early church catacombs – the Domatilla where we will be able to see some of the oldest paintings of Paul and the apostles. Before ending our day at the hotel, we will visit the place where the Apostle Paul was martyred.|
|June 1||Today we visit Circus Maximus, where thousands of our Christian brothers and sisters were martyred. We visit the Forum and Capitoline Hill where we will see the Mamertime Museum where Paul and Peter were imprisoned. Those who are energetic can climb to a small museum to see the oldest graffiti of a Jewish crucifixion – most likely a depiction of Christ. All will enjoy a teaching at the Arch of Titus and then the Coliseum. See the unique documentation in stone on the Coliseum of its financial involvement with the city of Jerusalem. Later today, we will visit the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Piazza Navona. Tonight we will have a unique dinner in Trastevere, the oldest part of Rome and home to early church converts. Trastevere is also in the oldest Jewish part of Rome.|
|June 2||Early morning we will visit St. Peter’s and the Vatican with its museums where we will end the tour at the spectacular painting of the “Last Judgment” on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. For lunch, enjoy a walk down the Via Del Corso and the Condotti for shopping and Italian delicacies. We will depart for our ship late this afternoon. Join the rest of the group aboard ship for our evening sail away party and dinner in the main dining room.|

Bob served as a producer on Mark Burnett and Roma Downey’s Emmy nominated The Bible series. And the new movie Son of God, in theaters February 28th.
Bob is the author of fourteen books including the novels Somewhere Fast, and Me and McCartney, the best-selling Daily Disciplines for the Christian Man, and an update of William Wilberforce’s Real Christianity, published in conjunction with the film Amazing Grace. He writes a column for Examiner.com on faith and culture, co-hosts the weekly radio program “You Get the Blessing”, and is a sought after speaker and teacher.
Bob is a graduate of the University of Missouri, and Denver Seminary where he earned both his Master of Arts and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Bob’s wife of thirty-nine years, Allison, is a religious liberty and human rights advocate. He has a married daughter, Stephanie, 33, a son, Baker, 27, and three grandchildren. When not writing, speaking, or making movies, Bob can usually be seen heading into the mountains of Colorado on his Harley-Davidson with a group of cultural infidels.
