The Courage and Stupidity of the Ostrich

What a great topic for a Bible discussion!

In the Old Testament God speaks to Job.  He tells him to consider the beauty of the peacock, the traits of the goats, and the courage and stupidity of the ostrich.

The wings of the ostrich wave proudly,
But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s?
For she leaves her eggs on the ground,
And warms them in the dust;
She forgets that a foot may crush them,
Or that a wild beast may break them.
She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers;
Her labor is in vain, without concern,
Because God deprived her of wisdom,
And did not endow her with understanding.
When she lifts herself on high,
She scorns the horse and its rider. Job 39:13-18

Scriptures like these provide interesting discussion points as we consider the animals and their traits. It gets even more interesting doing them together viewing and interacting with African animals!

Ostrich, Rhino, Elephant, and Much More!

Our Christian creation tour and African Safari Tours takes our visitors to the Waterberg Reserve, the first private game reserve in Africa. Surrounded by the Waterberg mountain range, this pristine, wildlife-rich area is situated in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Waterberg is most well-known for its early protection of the black rhinoceros. It is also known for its breathtaking scenery, including rivers, streams, and swamps that stretch for over 150 kilometers. The Waterberg became a designated UNESCO designated site.

In addition, the famous Waterberg Savannah biosphere offers a huge diversity of topics for us to explore on our teaching-based creation tour. It is home to over 200 species of birds, many herds of antelope, leopards, elephants, plus well known butterflies. There will be additional wildlife to see, including the sable antelope, kudu, red hartebeest, and over 800 breeding pairs of the eerie Cape Vulture.  And, of course the black rhino.

Family Experience of a Lifetime

Our African family safari and creation tour includes many teaching opportunities. One of our favorites topics comes from San (meaning bushmen) Rock Art, which can spark very compelling fireside talks in the evenings.
