Explore Athens on a Greece and Turkey Christian cruise
This Greece and Turkey Christian Cruise takes you to the “Tomb of the Unknown God” Site
A highlight of our Greece and Turkey Christian cruise is to study the time during Paul’s visit to Athens. The city of Athens was only 20,000 inhabitants while Corinth was well over 200,000 inhabitants. Everywhere Paul looked in Athens he saw statues of man-made gods. One important monument that quickened Paul’s spirit was the Tomb of the Unknown God. Acts 17:22 says, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.” Paul then tells them about the one true God saying, “The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;” (Acts17:24). With scripture in hand, we will stand together to see what Paul saw and the awesomeness of the words the Holy Spirit gave to him for that time period.
The time at the tomb will be spent on the same day that we will stand at Mars Hill, for his other great Holy Spirit inspired teaching. Our fully escorted, small ship tours that visit Athens the summer of 2015 are in June and August. You can also visit here for an overview of itineraries that you can build yourself with our guides and services.
