Christian Cruise Highlights: Didyma

Our 2015 Christian Cruise that took the Footsteps of Paul visited Didyma or Didim. The Temple of Apollo located here was attached by a Sacred Way to Miletus, which is also on our itinerary.  Didyma had one of the most important oracles in the ancient word.  The oracle lives at the Temple of Apollo here and the architect of the temple was the same as the architect of the temple of Artemis at Ephesus. The site and road was in use from 700BC  We will have a lively discussion on the use of oracles in Paul’s time, and we will learn of how in 303AD, the great persecution of the Christian’s began from this location.

It is also worth noting that there is a supporting monolith at this temple that weighs 70 tons.  The largest known is 415 tons and was used to support the Western Wall area of Herod’s temple in Jerusalem.  Join us for one of our small ship Christian cruises that visit Miletus and Didyma.
