Petra and Jordan is a Perfect Add-on to the Exodus of Arabia
Much More Than The Raiders Of The Lost Ark Told!
The region was visited by Abraham around 2100 BC, which at that time was called En-mishpat. He dwelt between Kadesh and Shur, the very area you will be traveling to. Genesis 14:7 states that Kadesh was known as the "Spring of Judgement".
The Exodus took place around 1450 BC. At Petra, even today, you see worn staircases of antiquity to nowhere, hundreds and hundreds of empty tombs, high places, altars, and ancient depictions representing kings – including Nabonidus of 556 BC. King Nabonidus spent more than 10 years in Arabia – some of that time in Kadesh. This Babylonian king, Nabonidus – with strong ties to Biblical Tayma in Arabia, has a depiction with astral figures at Petra that confirms his conquest of (Sela) and Edom in 555-539 BC. We will be able to see the carving that was created hundreds of years before the Nabateans redecorated the tombs.
Petra, Kadesh Barnea (two places separated by 12 kilometers), En-mishpat, Cades, and the name Sela in later days are all Biblical names for our destination – Petra. The name Kadesh Barnea – a place of burial, is where the Israelites would have spent their third Passover during the Exodus. The hundreds of empty tombs are known to have been “decorated” by the Nabateans who inhabited Petra hundreds of years after the Exodus. Scholars believe the tombs of Petra may be the burial tombs of the 1.5 million Israelites who died before entering the Promised Land. As you recall, only Caleb and Joshua remained from the original Exodus. Miriam, Aaron, and Moses were also buried near Petra.
The spring of Kadesh Barnea was the miracle of water provided to the Israelites for the second time on their journey. The first miracle was at Rephidim in Arabia, and the second was provided here - at Petra at the place called Wadi Musa. You will be able to touch the water.
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.” So Moses took the rod from before the Lord as He commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank. Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” This was the water of Meribah, because the children of Israel contended with the Lord, and He was hallowed among them. Numbers 20:7-13
Our visit to Petra will provide evidence of God’s second miracle of supplying water for the Israelites, the water source that would have sent the water down the world-famous 1+ meter siq (gorge) that we will walk with our own feet. You will see and touch the channels that still today run (dry) along the siq walls. This water moved from the gushing source at Wadi Musa throughout the siq. But those channels have now been abandoned for over a thousand years. The channel and siq today are still called The Wadi of Moses. The Quran also has repeated the same, and their written and ancient tradition does call Wadi Musa, the Wadi of Moses.
Biblical Exodus timeline evidence is furthered by the mention that En-mishpat (Petra) is Kadesh.
And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar. Genesis 14:7

Basta
Here you will see another very compelling site of antiquity. It is evidence of the Israelites that resided here for 38 years. Scholars believe it to have been built by Moses and then abandoned quickly before the Israelites crossed the Jordan into the Promised Land. The construction has unique massive subterranean floor channels with no outside access. Speculation thus far is that it was used as a slaughterhouse or for burial chambers and could be as old as 2000 BC (or from the time of the Exodus). They do know the site was occupied by a large number of people and yet was abandoned rapidly. Similar to Shiloh, Mount Ebal, and Maqatir, there was a substantial number of kosher bones found that provide documentation of a slaughterhouse of the Israelites.
Mount Paran
Our jeep expedition will lead us to the departure point of the spies into the Promised Land.
And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the Wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud rested in the Wilderness of Paran. And as they sent the spies out: Numbers 10:12
And they went and came to Moses and to Aaron and to all the congregation of the children of Israel unto the Wilderness of Paran to Kadesh, and brought back word unto them and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. Numbers 13:26
Mount Seir
We will travel around this mountain on our expedition, just as the Israelites would have done. Mount Seir is important for the generations of Edomites and of its Biblical importance.
