Video: Mike Gendron Speaks at the Wittenberg Door
Martin Luther is such a central figure in the Reformation but throughout his work he remained humble. Rather than taking the credit for himself, Martin Luther gave all the glory to God. Standing in front of the Wittenberg Door where Luther himself nailed the famous 95 Theses, Mike Gendron explains how Luther sought the true meaning of scripture and how the translation of the Bible influenced Christian thinking!
For over 34 years, Evangelist Mike Gendron was a devout Roman Catholic and a strong defender of the “one true church.” However, in 1981, while attending an evangelical seminar, he realized the Bible is the supreme authority for knowing truth. After more study, he discovered that the Roman Catholic plan of salvation was diametrically opposed to the Gospel of grace revealed in the Bible. His new excitement and hunger for the inspired word of God led him to help organize the very first Little Rock Scripture Study, at a Catholic Church in Dallas. Mike soon realized that many of the teachings and traditions of the Catholic religion were not found in the Bible. After more study, he discovered that the Roman Catholic plan of salvation was diametrically opposed to the Gospel of grace revealed in the Bible. This led to a crisis of faith. Should he trust Christ and His Word, or the teachings and traditions of his religion? He knew he could not believe both. God granted him repentance and he exchanged his religion for a relationship with His all-sufficient Savior.
In 1988 he left a successful career in corporate management to study at Dallas Theological Seminary. Four years later, during his last semester at DTS, Mike and his wife Jane’s love for Catholics inspired them to begin the ministry of Proclaiming the Gospel that would point Catholics to the Lord Jesus Christ as their all sufficient Savior. For 25 years, their hearts have been burdened for those who may be where they were for most of their life–eternally condemned and not even aware of it. Mike’s book Preparing for Eternity, which is rich with Scripture, has been effective in leading many Roman Catholics out of spiritual bondage and deception. Mike has taught in seminaries, churches and conferences all over the world and has produced six Gospel tracts in six different languages.
