Christian Tours to Saudi Arabia Reveal Mount Sinai and Biblical Sites in Ancient Midian

Since opening to Christian tourism in 2019, Saudi Arabia has become an emerging destination for faith-based Christian travelers seeking to explore the biblical land of Midian. Believed by some scholars to be the true location of Mount Sinai, this remote area features stunning landmarks like the Split Rock of Horeb, thought to be the very place where Moses struck the rock and water flowed for the Israelites.

Leading the way is Joel Richardson, a speaker and author who has conducted five immersive tours through Living Passages, a U.S.-based Christian travel company that has organized 11 tours to Saudi Arabia so far.

“The Saudi government is gradually allowing more religious freedom,” said Richardson, referencing a recent Christmas liturgy led by a local Christian, Marcos. “The hope is that we’ll eventually see true religious freedom for Saudi nationals who have come to faith in Christ.”
